Just Playing?
For kids, the purpose of play is to have fun and do interesting things. The result of play is development and learning. Here are some skills that happen when kids play:
Problem-solving
Matching colors or shapes in puzzles or games
Building with blocks, boxes and more
Social Abilities
Taking turns or working out a sharing system
Talking about the things around them. Listening when another talks
|
|
Feelings
Telling another child or adult her feelings
Recognizing other's feelings — "She's sad, her mom left."
Creative Ideas
Using one thing for something else. For example, turning the barn into a train station, a cooking pot into a drum, or a crayon into a baby doll's bottle.
